Unable to recover from an early double-digit deficit, the Carbon Dinos season came to an end with a 62-36 loss to the Judge Memorial Bulldogs Saturday morning at the USU Eastern BDAC in Price.

A troubling first quarter proved to be the difference in the contest as Carbon found themselves in a 17-4 hole early on.

Trailing 33-13 at half time, the Dinos shot just 16-percent from the field during the first two quarters. The struggles continued into the second half as the team converted just 10 field goals, ending 18-percent for the game.

Senior Brady Gagon scored 10 points and gathered four rebounds in his final game for the Dinos. Fellow senior Kaleb Nelson contributed seven points and five boards, while both Merrick Morgan and Preston Condie each ended with five points.

Deng Mayar recorded a double-double with a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bulldogs. Got Daw shot an efficient 8-10 from the field as he scored 21 points. Tomas Young and Dom Burns each scored five.

Judge Memorial finished an even 50-percent from the field, but showed dominance with points in transition. The Bulldogs also out rebounded Carbon 38-30, while also committing three less turnovers.

Entering the 3A State Tournament as the No. 13 seed, Carbon was paired with No. 4 Judge. The two teams met once in the regular season, which also resulted in a Judge victory.

Carbon ends the season 7-15 overall, including a 2-8 record in Region 12 play. Losing only two seniors to graduation the Dinos are expected to have a large number of returners in 2020-21.
