Ascension St Matthews Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper will be held on Tuesday, February 25 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm inside the church located on 522 North Homestead Boulevard in Price.
“We have two fundraisers during the year. The Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, which I’m here to talk about today and our Fall Fare which is the second weekend in October and those two things help us to keep up the repairs on the building and do a lot of the outreach programs that we do so its really important that the word gets out to all of our friends out there in Carbon County and down in Emery if they fill like coming up,” said an Event Organizer, Pam Adams. The church’s outreach program has assisted many individuals and organizations within the community.
The donation cost for the supper is $5.00 per person or $20.00 for family. “The meal is one of the best in town, there is freshly made pancakes from our own very secret recipe which everybody loves. It’s scrambled eggs, a slice of orange, ham slice and all the pancakes you can eat,” explained Adams. Children under that age of 3 years old eat free with an accompanied adult. The supper will be served by several church members.
The church’s gift shop will be open during the event for guests. Most of the items feature in the shop are homemade and one of a kind, plus they Advent candles, wreaths and religious jewelry.
“We hope that you will come up and help us to continue to do so many of the things that we’ve been doing for many, many years now. This is our 18th year in that building and so we’re having to make some necessary repairs and a few other things but a lot of the money goes to our outreach program too. We just hope that all of you will come out and have a good time, eat a good meal and enjoy coming,” stated Adams. No matter what denomination or church all community members are welcomed to attend the Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper.
