There is now another resource available in the community to help those in addiction recovery. The Utah Support Advocates for Recovery Awareness better known as USARA is a non-profit organization that is newly established to serve Carbon, Emery and Grand Counties.
“So we actually believe in all pathways to recovery. So nobody’s substance use looks the same, so nobody’s recovery looks the same,” said Peer Recovery Coach, Mersades Morgan. “Everybody knows someone or knows someone who knows someone that has been touched by this and so what we’re trying to do is just come in and say hey there is support for you and there are resources and you’re not alone in this struggle right now.”
The support groups that USARA offers to individuals in addiction recovery is as follows:
Mondays 9:00 am Recovery Dharma
Tuesdays 9:00 am Coffee & Recovery
Wednesdays 5:30 pm Family Support Group
Thursdays 9:00 am Recovery Yoga
“Friday, we have My Life in Recovery and then on the last Friday of every month we actually have a community pot-luck for everybody to just come together and connect and then Sunday nights we have Narcotics Anonymous which is also a 12-step based meeting,” explained Morgan. The USARA mission is to celebrate, advocate, support, and empower people in all stages of addiction recovery through connecting to resources, building community, and raising awareness that long term recovery is possible.
The USARA office is located at 67 East Main Street in Price. “So if you look up USARA Price on Facebook you can contact us through there. We also have a website so https://www.myusara.com/ and you would just go to the location link and click on the Price location,” said Morgan. The phone number to the USARA office is (877) 921-0330.
