The Carbon County Sheriff’s weekly update was a quick reminder about driving with caution when traveling through residential areas.

“Plus its that time of year to where during the morning commute the sun is starting to become an issue if you’re traveling towards the east, the sun will be in your eyes and you could be in those areas where kids are playing at the school bus stop – so just take your time,” said Sheriff Jeff Wood. There are still colder temperatures in the mornings so drivers should be sure to clear their windshield from frost.

There have been grumbles about drivers speeding through residential areas throughout the county. “I do get a lot of complaints of speedy in the Westwood area, Carbonville, Spring Glen, all those areas – Miller Creek I get a lot of speeders out there. So we are going to be working those areas pretty hard,” explained Sheriff Wood. Drivers need to remember to be cautious when traveling through residential neighborhoods watch for children, pets, pedestrians and other drivers.

“And this time of year, you know with as much snow as we have in our foothills and mountains there are a lot of wildlife down here as well – Carbonville Road is a place that a lot of deer have been hit this year, so keep an eye out. A lot of obstacles to be aware of and just take your time, leave a little bit early, it will pay off,” stated Sheriff Wood.
