This week’s Carbon School District weekly update shines a light on Helper Middle School. Principal Robert Bradley stopped by to share with the community all the fun activities and events taking place at his school.
“We are starting to gear up towards this long haul to the end of school and although we have a nice break in the middle of that there are still so many things going on. We’ve got state history fair, state science fair, we’ve got state FCCLA competitions, there’s just a whole lot going on,” said Principal Bradley. The school has also been busy with the transition of their eighth-grade students to high school next year, as well as fifth-grade transition to Helper Middle School.
The school recently competed in a regional Quiz Bowl with some of their students on February 25. “It’s similar to Jeopardy. So we have a variety of questions that they ask us. They have math questions, they have geography, they have social studies, they’ll have a variety of sometimes current events – we never know what they are going to ask us,” said JV Team Advisor, Michelle Fidell. Those schools that participated are Monticello, Green River, Mont Harmon, Canyon View and San Rafael. The next Quiz Bowl Competition will be held at Mont Harmon Middle School next week.
Some upcoming dates for parents to remember are on March 13 the third quarter ends and April 6 through 10 is Spring Break. If you would like to learn more on the happenings at Helper Middle School visit their Facebook page.
