The Pinnacle Lady Panther Basketball team traveled to Richfield to participate in the 1A State Championship Tournament. With back to back losses against Monument Valley and Wayne the Panthers season came to an end.

Below is a recap of both games:

February 26 vs. Monument Valley- Loss 46-19

In the first game of round two the Panthers faced the Monument Valley Cougars the No. 3 seed and Regoin 19 Champions.

Monument Valley is a familiar foe for Pinnacle as both teams share the same conference. They faced each other twice this season with the Cougars taking both meetings.

Pinnacle got off to a rough start scoring only six points in the first half and going into the locker room down by 17 points. In the second half they could only score 13 as Monument Valley’s defense was just too much for the Panthers.

Stephanie Sasser would lead the way with 10 points, Jacee Atwood added five and Destinee Andrews scored three points in the loss that would drop Pinnacle into the consolation bracket.

Alyah Blackwater would add 10 points for Monument Valley, Tanisha Cowboy dropped in eight and Jamika Nelson and Raemi Nez scored seven.

February 27 vs. Wayne- Loss 54-22

Just 15 hours after the loss to Monument Valley, the Lady Panthers were on the floor again facing the Wayne Badgers. Wayne would come in with a record of 10-12 on the season and holding the No. 11 seed.

The Panthers scored the first two points of the game and that would be their only lead of the game as Wayne took over from there. Taking the victory and ending the Panthers season.

The Panthers, who ended the season with a record of 9-16, will say goodbye to three seniors from this years squad. Alyssa MacDonald, RaeLeigh Miller and Stephanie Sasser. Sasser ended the season in sixth place for rebounding in the State across all classifications, she also led the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game.
