Two scattered runs was the extent of the offensive production as the Carbon Dinos suffered a 2-0 loss to Bountiful in a non-region contest Monday afternoon.

Sophomore Jordan Fossat and senior Tyler Wright combined for an outstanding tag team effort on the mound for the Dinos. While the defense was firing on all cylinders the offense failed to provide proper run support as Carbon slipped to 2-2 on the young season.

Falling behind 1-0 at the end of the first inning, the Dinos remained in striking distance throughout the road tilt. Bountiful added one more security run in the fourth inning.

Fossat pitched four solid frames allowing just two hits and two runs, while fanning five batters. Wright stepped in for relief work, striking out two of the nine batters he faced. The combined four hits put Bountiful’s batting average at a pedestrian .174 for the game.

Offensively Carbon also finished four hits, matching Bountiful’s total. Junior Cooper Schade delivered a multiple hit performance finishing 2-3 with a double. Wright and Rylan Hart both singled for the other two hits.

Carbon batters found contact throughout the game as the team managed to limit their strike outs to six for the contest. A limited number of opportunities were left on the board as the Dinos stranded three runners throughout.

Monday’s outing begins what will be a busy week for Carbon. The team will return to the baseball diamond on Tuesday with a road meeting against Provo. After a two day break Carbon will resume play Friday at Grantsville, before wrapping up the week at home against Ben Lomond.
