The Carbon Lady Dino softball squad hosted the Manti Templars on Tuesday afternoon at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Complex. The Templars drew first blood scoring four runs in the first three innings however, Carbon made  it interesting scoring eight runs in the second half of the game but would come up short 9-8.

Manti would jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and added three more in the third pushing the lead to 4-0. Carbon found offense in the bottom of the fifth inning cutting Manti’s lead to just two runs. Manti scored two runs in the sixth and seventh, giving them a 9-3 lead going into the bottom of the seventh. The Dinos gave one final push scoring five runs but the rally ended with them taking the one run loss.

Brooke Moosman went five innings giving up 12 hits, seven runs (four earned) walking three and striking out three. Tenley Madsen would come in and give up two hits, two runs (both earned) walking three and striking out two.

Offensively the Dinos were led by Amaya Prettyman with two runs and two hits including a home run and three RBIs. Mollie Horsley added one hit and two runs and Graycie Hansen had two runs, one hit and one RBI.

The Dinos had their opportunities in the game though stranding six runners and and batting just .207 for the contest.

Up next for the Dinos, they will face the Pine View Panthers on the road in St. George. Pine View is a team from the 4A classification.

Carbon will stay in southern Utah and take part in the St. George Tournament over the weekend.
