The Carbon Dino tennis club took part in the North Sanpete tournament on Thursday competing against three other schools. In their previous outing on Tuesday March 10 they defeated the Juab Wasps 3-2. On this occasion they would face teams from Uintah, Manti and North Sanpete.

In their first matches of the day they took on the team from Uintah High School from Vernal. In the singles matches Preston Condie would fall in straight sets 2-6 and 0-6. Leonard Livingston was defeated in straight sets as well 2-6 and 0-6. In the final of the singles matches Jack Livingston fell 2-6, 6-2 and 9-11 in a tiebreak.

As for doubles matches Bonham Brewer and Derrick Jorgensen fell in straight sets 3-6 and 3-6 as did the team of Alex Callahan and Carter Heugly were defeated 0-6, 0-6. Carbon would lose to Uintah 5-0.

In the second round of matches the Dinos would face Manti, with mostly the same result. Condie would fall in straight sets 2-6 and 1-6. Leonard Livingston fell 0-6, 0-6. Jack Livingston would again go to a tiebreak but would fall 6-2, 2-6 and 8-10.

The doubles pair of Bonham Brewer and Derrick Jorgensen would register the first Carbon win in straight sets 6-3, 6-0,  and the pairing of Callahan and Heugly would fall 3-6 and 4-6. Carbon fell to Manti 1-4.

In the final matches of the tournament Carbon faced North Sanpete. Preston Condie was victorious 7-5 and 6-2. Leonard Livingston took control in his match winning 6-1 and 7-5, and Jack Livingston made a clean singles sweep for the Dinos winning 6-2 and 6-3.

In doubles, Brewer and Jorgensen fell 0-6 and 2-6, and Callahan and Heugly lost in straight sets 0-6, 0-6.

This is a strange time for high school sports. With the Utah High School Activities Association suspending all sports and other activities for two weeks starting on Monday March 16. Hopefully the team will be back on the court soon.
