The Carbon County Food Bank is a wonderful organization within Southeastern Utah Association of Local Governments that offers help to individuals/families that are in need. Community Services Program Manager, Julie Rosier took time to talk with Castle Country Radio about the services they offer.
“One of the things we are hearing a lot is stores are running low on different food items and the challenge of availability, so it’s really critical right now that we remain open to provide services,” said Rosier. There are many community members that are in need of their services due to either being newly unemployed due to closures and/or hours cut amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The process to obtain Food Bank services is quite easy as individuals/families will need to provide proof of income, social security cards for everyone in the household, picture ID of head of household, proof of residence and food stamps printout. The current process is a bit different due to the COVID19 pandemic. Individuals/families will be asked what their household income is, list who lives in the home and sign a document to verify the submitted information.
The Food Bank is always looking for donations of non-perishable items to help fill the shelves. “For donations, we are always in need of those and I encourage anyone that would like to donate they can come anytime. There’s usually somebody there all day Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Monday and Friday mornings from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm,” stated Rosier. The Food Bank is located at 75 East 400 South in Price just east of the Old Reeves School Building.
