Today it is with great sorrow that we say good-bye to the most amazing, loving and caring woman, Andrea Maria Martinez passed away April 3, 2020 from a massive stroke.
She was born on July 24, 1918 to Tiburcio and Annacletta Alcon Martinez.
Married Joe J. Martinez September 29, 1951 in Helper, Utah. He died July 13, 1997.
Mom was going to be 102, but you would never know it to look at her. Until the day she died she did everything for herself. She had a dry sense of humor and was fun to be around. She loved playing bingo and going to Wendover. Andrea had the kind of personality that people were drawn to and everyone who met her fell in love with her. She had a lot of jobs during her life. She was a registered nurse, a waitress, worked at Price Steam Laundry, Helper Mining Museum and the Helper fire station. Her biggest job was raising her four children, JoAnn Garcia, Michael Martinez and Esther Sandoval and DeAnn Martinez. She excelled at being the most wonderful mom ever and is the reason that all moms should be in a mom’s hall of fame. Andrea lived in Helper most of her life and had the most wonderful neighbors who all watched out for her. She had amazing friends who were all willing to go the extra mile to be sure that if she needed anything that she got it. She adored her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and they meant the world to her and she meant the world to them. She will be missed and has left a giant hole in our hearts.
Thanks to everyone for loving her especially her great granddaughter Marissa Lindsey who spent five years taking extra good care of her great grandma. We also would like to thank everyone at Parkdale Care Center and the Good Life Senior Living for making mom feel special. Thank you to Community Nursing Service, you all were great with my mom. Thank you to Mitchell Funeral Home for helping all of us get through this sorrowful time.
