Jose “Tio” Adeliado Jacquez, age 85, passed away at Castleview Hospital on April 5, 2020. Tio lived a long and fulfilling life.

Tio was born June 25, 1934 in Gallup, New Mexico to Enrique and Regina Sanchez Jacquez where he worked as a farmhand. He then followed the call of God as he joined the monastery in Colorado at the age of 18. He was there for many years until he joined the army as a medic.

He did so many things with his life; farmhand, monk, gym teacher, railroad worker, CNA, but the thing he was most proud of was his family. He was inseparable from “his boy” Greggory, whom he raised like his own son. He was very passionate about his wrestling and broke many recliners. He never missed a Paper-per-view event. He even hit Kevin Nash with a hotdog during a live event. We are still unsure where Tio got the hotdog.

Tio had a special bond with all of his siblings, but he had an extra special one with his sister Apolonia Sandoval. They always spent their days making tortillas and drinking coffee. He loved his puppies and was always concerned that the babies were eating enough.

His favorite boy Shrek and his Little Genie were there waiting for him when he passed, along with his siblings and their spouses; Apolonia (Antonio) Sandoval, Albertina (Seledon) Sandoval, Vivian Jacques, and Isidor (Rose) Jacquez; two nephews Lelo and Dean Sandoval; five great nephews, Joey Manzanares, Tony and David Duran, and Victor and Johnny Jacquez; great niece, Paula Sandoval; and a great-great niece, Brooke Tomadakis.

He is survived by his nephew/son, Greggory (Deanna) Darbro; his very special sisters-in-law, Mini Jacquez and Tia Alice Martinez; nieces, Bessie (Juan) Montealeare, Margie Duran, Louise (Candy) Manzanares, Josie (Jesse) Alcon, Lita (Buddy) Quintana, Joanne (Steven) Manzanares, Lydia (Gilbert) Manzanares, Viola Galindo, Amy Jacquez, Irene (Lloyd) Cruz, Lilly (Ricky) Duran; nephews, Gilbert (Veva) Sandoval, Hank Sandoval, Eddie Sandoval, Sal Sandoval, Andrew (Deana) Jacquez, Frank Lujan, Johnny Jacquez, Joe Jacquez.

Special thanks to Zach Darbro for his dedication to making sure Tio didn’t sleep alone and Lita for her many days of sitting with him when Gregg and Deanna couldn’t.

A private family funeral service will take place Wednesday, April 8, 2020, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Tio online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
