Less than one week after parting ways with former head coach Adjalma Becheli, USU Eastern’s search for a new men’s basketball coach is underway.
“We are right in the middle of a nation wide search for a new men’s basketball coach for the first time in eight years,” said associate vice president Greg Dart. “Now is the time for the next stage in this program that has a lot of history and upside.”
The vacancy was officially posted Thursday evening and will be open for roughly two weeks. At that point the college will review it’s applicants and begin the interview process.
The 2020-21 season will be a complete change for the men’s basketball program. Last week, former assistant coach Ray Jones accepted the head coach position at Pinnacle High School after three years at USU Eastern.
“As far as my list I think there are three things we will be looking for,” said Dart. “One is a community supporter and who understands community basketball. Two, we are looking for someone who brings a positive energy. And third, we need someone who can recruit.”
The official job listing can be found HERE. Listen to Dart’s complete interview on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports below.
