The Emery Caring for Kids program is a non-profit organization that helps feed students in the Emery County area. Organization Representative, Tiffany Jeffs took time to speak with Castle Country Radio about how the Emery Caring for Kids program began.

“How it came about, it was kind of off what Marcy Loveless does, she has really done a good thing over there in Carbon County and we just kind of got word of it from her and saw what she was doing and saw a need for it here in our county,” explains Jeffs. The organization worked closely with Loveless to get the Emery program up and running to where it is now. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the program is in limbo until school is back in session.

The organization supplies food kits to school-aged children for the weekends and holidays. The group works similar to the Carbon group as they also notify individuals via their Facebook page on what items are needed for the week. “All of our donations and stuff come from the community. All of our time, the way we put the kits together, everything is from the community. It’s all community based which is really, really neat and it makes the community aware of what’s going on and helps them to be a part of it,” stated Jeffs. Their distribution of kits is done differently as there is only one school counselor for the entire district so the organization has established a good working relationship with each of the elementary schools so that kits can be delivered to each student that is in need.
