After a 15 year war with cancer, Joel succumbed to the battle. He recently gave advise to all about how important family is and to spend as much time as you can with them.

Joel was born on January 20, 1950 in Price, Utah to Alten and Lucille Carter Jensen. He married Vivian Taylor in Loa, Utah, on August 23, 1969 and later divorced in 1993. Dad grew up in Emery except for a couple of years where he attended SUU in Cedar City studying Botany and Animal Science. After a couple of years he left college and returned to Emery to assist his dad on the farm.

Joel went to work at UDOT for 11 years and then worked for Consol Coal Mine for six months until he blew out his knee during the wild cow milking. Once healed he worked as a blade operator for Emery County where he retired in 2016.

He was a cowboy all his life whether after work or on weekends . Mountain and deserts were his love and where he spent his life punching cows, cutting wood, hunting, or just driving or riding.

He is survived by his children: Arden. (Marcy) Park City; Bob (Cindy) Alpine; Corinne (Gratt) Emery; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by grandchild Bryson Jensen and parents Alten and Lucille Jensen.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Emery Ward Chapel. Viewing will be 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Emery Ward Relief Society Room. Interment will be at the Emery City Cemetery.
