The Bureau of Land Management is a host to various outdoor activities in both Carbon and Emery Counties. Public Affairs Specialist, Rachael Wootton was able to take some time to speak over the telephone to discuss those recreational activities with listeners.

Another local fun spot to visit is the Dinosaur Quarry located near Cleveland which will be opening on May 14.  “The Cleveland Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry, now Jurassic National Monument is a remarkable place to go learn about you know about our dinosaur history and the past creatures that lived here and one of the things that you know I’ll mention specifically about Jurassic is while it’s a beautiful area, its such a great place to take your family, you want to make sure you are prepared for the roads out there,” explained Wootton.  The last 13 miles of the road from Cleveland to the monument is graded, unpaved road and will be open on Thursdays through Sundays.

“I just want to stress the importance of responsible outdoor recreation; you know these public lands belong to all of us but also its up to all of us to kind of preserve them for present and future generations. So that means following leave no trace, tread lightly principals,” said Wootten. This helps land managers who are out every day preserve the lands.
