Things are a bit different this year when it comes to high school graduation ceremonies, as other alternatives have had to be developed due to COVID-19 pandemic. Carbon County Sheriff Jeff Wood took the time to talk about graduation celebrations this year and driving through neighborhoods.

“I echo the concerns of a lot of the people in the community as far as we want to do things for our seniors, we want to have a graduation, nobody wants that more than law enforcement does because we recognize that these kids have really worked hard but we have to stay within the guidelines of the Governor’s direction and stay COVID compliant while we are doing this and you know its not something we necessarily want to do but it’s the hand we’re dealt,” said Sheriff Wood. The sheriff commends the Carbon School District for coming up with a safe way to recognize the high school seniors that are graduating.

The warmer temperatures and school dismissals have children out enjoying the outdoors in many neighborhoods around the area. It is very important for drivers to be cautious when traveling through those areas. “You know I always say, my little coin phrase for the radio is you’ve got to watch for them, they not watching for you. So when you’re traveling around keep in mind that kids are out and about. You know I‘ve been so impressed with the kids that I’ve seen waiting at the bus stops for their lunch meals and things, it’s a unique time we’re living in but you can see that kids adapting very well to it,” stated Sheriff Jeff Wood. Again, he commends the Carbon School District for coming up with a way to feed the children in the surrounding areas during the school dismissal
