The Price City Desert Wave Pool is preparing to open for public swim and there is some important information the public should know beforehand so Castle Country Radio took time to speak over the telephone with Aquatics Director, Tamara Gray about how things will run.

“Right at this time, we are doing a max of 20 people for every hour and a half so we’ll start reservations at noon, we take them at noon, and they can swim till 1:30 pm, then we have that group leave and we sanitize everything and they next group come at 2:00 pm. So you can make reservations at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm,” explained Gray. Not only will guests be able to use the wave pool but they can also enjoy the indoor pool while they visit. The amount of people being admitted into the pool at this time could change as the state works on moving out of the yellow status.

Many folks may have noticed that the bubble constructed over the Desert Wave Pool is still intact and unfortunately due to the COVID-19 restrictions it will remain covered for the remainder of the year. “You know its just not safe at this time to take it down. We can’t do it safely with as many people as we need and with social distancing,” said Gray. The temperature of the wave pool will be adjusted to accommodate the hotter outdoor temperatures and access to the outdoor area will be made available so folks can enjoy some time at the outdoor tables and chairs.

“The locker rooms are open, the showers are open, we do have like I said, every other one marked off so we can make sure they’re staying socially distance. We’re just asking people to be responsible and to practice that social distancing while they’re here,” said Gray. There are markings on the floors to direct folks in the right direction as they visit the Desert Wave Pool.

A new session of swim lessons will begin on June 22 and registration is currently taking place. “If people were enrolled in swimming lessons when we had to close back in March, they got cut short some lessons. So we’re going to start those make-up lessons on Monday the 8th and do them for the next two weeks so they can get those lessons that they missed. So it’s no extra charge if they were already enrolled when we had to cancel. We’re trying to get a hold of each person individually but if you were signed up just give us a call,” explained Gray.
