The Desert Wave Pool is excited to be offering swimming lessons which are set to begin on June 22. Aquatics Director, Tamara Gray stopped by Castle Country Radio to share the details on the lessons.

“We are starting our first summer of swimming lessons on June 22. We are cutting back with the classes that are offered so there are less classes. We do still have all of the levels offered but the slots are filling up really fast, so call as soon as possible,” said Gray. The lessons are offered every two weeks. The sessions will run July 6 through 16, July 20 through 30 and August 3 through 13. Each session sign-up schedule will be ready a week before the class begins. They will try to accommodate all the levels needed in each session.

Open swim in both the wave pool and indoor poos are still being offered by reservation only by 90-minute blocks. “Just found out this morning we are going to increase our limit to 40 people per every hour and a half. So it’s by reservation, Monday through Friday you can make a reservation at 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm. That means just calling ahead before you get there because we don’t want them to show up and we have to turn them away because we have reached our capacity. But give us a call so we can get how many is in your group – your name, your phone number, and we’ll put you down,” stated Gray. Regular admission rates will apply.

Officials are slowly trying to get back to the “new normal” at the pool by returning to their normal lap swim schedule but with some restrictions. “Our lap swim is back the way it was 5:30 am to 8:00 am, Monday through Friday; we also do Saturdays at 9:00 am – those are by reservations as well. We have opened it up to six lanes, one person per lane. So our 5:30 am time slot during the week fills up pretty fast, so give us a call and those will go by hour increments,” explained Gray. Lap swim reservations are also offered from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, then again at 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
