Aleen Riley, daughter of the late Dora Almira Pierce and Rulon William Rich passed away peacefully on July 12, 2020 at her home in Clawson. Aleen was born February 24, 1927 in Kenilworth, Utah. At just 8 years old, Aleen’s father died. Her mother then married Alford Powell. Aleen had 4 younger sisters and one brother. Aleen attended school in Wellington, Utah.
Aleen met the love of her life, a sailor named Robert Riley, while working at the Ogden Army Depot. They were married October 2, 1946 in Wellington, Utah. This union was blessed with 6 children.
Robert’s employment eventually brought the family home to Clawson where Aleen spent the rest of her years.
Aleen had many significant life experiences such as driving senior citizen band, escorting cancer patients (Sexpots) to Provo weekly, and joining a bowling team with friends. Aleen was also an extraordinary seamstress. She adored sewing items for herself, family, and others. Aleen loved family genealogy. She discovered that her roots traced back to King Charlemagne of France. She was also an amazing cook. Aleen was famous for her pie crust however the recipe remains a mystery. Aleen is well known by her family for putting the “petal to the metal” when driving as she always wanted to be ahead of everyone else.
Aleen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many positions but, her favorite was girls camp. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that brightened every room.
Aleen and Robert were snowbirds for many years after retiring. They were happily married for almost 74 years.
Aleen’s life will be cherished forever in the lives of her husband, Robert, children: Mike (April) Riley, Carey (Bill ‘deceased’) Bloomer, Scott (Cathy) Riley, Wade (Kim) Riley, Ted Riley ‘deceased’, and Trent (Delanna) Riley; 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, sisters Rula Sacco and Illa Mae Steele, and brother Kent (Sherry) Powell.
Preceded in death by her parents, stepfather, son, 2 sisters, and son-in-law.
Viewing will be held Thursday, July 16, 2020 from 5-7pm at Fausett Mortuary 720 N. Center, Castle Dale, Utah 84513.
Graveside services will be held Friday, July 17, 2020 at 11am at Ferron Utah Cemetery.
