The United Way of Eastern Utah has a new Director taking over the helm of the organization and her name is Kaylee Iman. She is very excited to be a part of a wonderful organization as she took time to come into Castle Country Radio to visit and let listeners know about upcoming events.
The Day of Caring event was unable to be held this year due to the pandemic. But you can lend a helping hand to anyone in the community that may need it. “We are encouraging individuals to go ahead and still participate in service projects. If you find someone that needs help or even people in your own neighborhood. We do want everybody to still remember to follow the guidelines for COVID, social distance and masks,” said Iman. The Day of Caring event is one of the largest single day of volunteerism in Carbon County and projects include cleaning up yards or lots, garbage pick up on trails, painting at the parks and many more projects.
United Way of Eastern Utah is busily preparing for the Angel Tree Program and looking forward to another successful year. “We are looking at details and how we will have to follow that better with the guidelines but we still plan on doing that and we will have applications going out October 1, I believe they will be on the website, they are not updated as of right now but they will be,” said Iman. The Angle Tree Project is an annual event that assists low-income families with Christmas.
There will be a Diaper Drive taking place during the month of September as Iman shares details, “We’re planing on doing a Diaper Drive in September that details are still being worked out but the diapers go to WIC Program.” This program works closely with the Southeastern Utah Health Department who accepts diaper donations all year-round.
The Soles 2 Souls program is currently accepting donations. The program assists students in need start off the school year in a new pair of shoes. “We are having a bin outside our office at 81 North 100 East in Price, Utah from Tuesday to Thursday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, that is typically when I’m there, so that is when it will be outside our office door for anybody who would like to donate a pair of new shoes for that program, since we haven’t been able to have a drive or donation,” said Iman. Shoes sizes needed are any student’s sizes grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. Details of other bins being set up inside local businesses will come at a later time.
