Ryan Brady led an offensive clinic as the Carbon Lady Dinos dominated the Union Cougars for a 6-0 win in the season opener Thursday afternoon.

Despite a competitive first half Carbon found an edge offensively, taking a 2-0 lead into the break. The second half was completely one sided as the Lady Dinos scored four goals to secure the win.

Brady delivered a hat trick as she scored three of the team’s goals. Kacie Brady found the back of the net twice and Sophia Crompton scored once.

Defensively Carbon was on point throughout the game, limiting the amount of shots on goal from Union. Emma Flemmet logged the shutout at goalie.

Thursday’s loss for Union comes just two days after defeating Emery 5-2 in their season opener. The win for Carbon marks the sixth straight over the Cougars, dating back to 2017.

With the first week of the season now complete Carbon is currently the only team in Region 12 to earn a victory. Emery has started 0-2, while Richfield is sitting at 0-1. South Sevier, San Juan and Grand will start their seasons next week.

Carbon will continue the non-region portion of its schedule throughout the month of August. The season will resume on Tuesday when the Lady Dinos welcome in the Manti Templars.
