The Emery Spartans ended fifth overall in the second Region 12 meet of the season Tuesday afternoon at the Cove View Golf Course in Richfield.
Richfield protected their home course with a score of 303, topping second place Carbon’s 322. South Sevier ended in third at 345, followed by Grand’s 355 and Emery’s 365. San Juan finished a distant sixth overall.
Trevin Wakefield led the Spartans with a team best 86. Kavery Killpack was second on the team with a 90, followed by Devan Guymon’s 94. Both Carter Huntington and Tayven Guymon tied for the fourth score with a 95.
Following Tuesday’s performance the Spartans have slipped from third to fifth place in Region 12. The trip to Cove View is the first of two this season, the second coming on Sept. 9, which is a home meet for South Sevier.
The young Emery team will now regroup and prepare for the third meet of the season, which is set for Wednesday, Aug. 26. The next competition will take the six teams to Monticello at the Hideout Golf Course, the home site of San Juan.
