There will be a Light the Night Water Lantern Festival taking place on Saturday, August 29 at sunset at the Knight Ideal Fishing Pond in Wellington. National American Miss Junior Teen Utah, Blayr Bennett took time to come into Castle Country Radio to talk about the upcoming event.
“Light the Night is a water lantern festival that I’ll be throwing on the 29th and it will be a very calm environment. I’m trying to do this to bring the community together, after this year we all know it’s been a really tough one. I just wanted something everybody could come in safely to have time to be calm, and light a lantern on the pond,” said Bennett. Limited spots are available so interested participants will need to pre-register online before the event.
There will food, music, photo-ops and much more activities taking place at the event. Bennet explains the cost to participate, “So if you’re single, you’ll be looking at $20.00, for a couple that is $35.00, and if you have a family of four or more it will be $65.00 with $10.00 for every extra person you add. So that includes the whole bag you’ll be getting, plus the lantern. So, it’s really not that much if you wanting a good night.” The custom bags will be filled with a lantern and marker to sign or decorate your lantern before the launch.
This is event is part of Bennett’s platform, Give More Good as she explains, “So my platform is Give More Good and basically the whole jest of it is I want people to know that anything that they do whether it be little or big will make a difference and it will make the world a better place, and it’s really important for me to get that out there because some people just don’t’ know how much a difference they can make and everybody wants to change the world a little bit, so that’s basically what its about.” She hopes that the event will bring the community closer during these trying times.
