The Carbon Dinos cross country team played host to the Emery Spartans and Pinnacle Panthers for the Carbon Duel Thursday afternoon.

Led by junior Jess Christiansen, who finished with the meet’s top time, the Emery boy’s team defeated both Carbon and Pinnacle as they accounted for just 23 points. Carbon finished in second with 33 points, followed by Pinnacle in third with 82 points.

Emery gathered an advantage on the boy’s side of the field as they claimed three of the top five spots in the meet. Bryar Meccariello finished just behind Christiansen, while Merritt Meccariello grabbed fifth place.

Easton Humes gave the Carbon boy’s team its top finish as he ended third in the talented field. Kobe Cruz came in fourth and Braxton Ware ended in sixth.

The Carbon Lady Dinos walked away with the victory on the girl’s side of the competition as they gathered just 19 points. Emery finished in second with 43 points.

Carbon’s Ambree Jones completed the race with the top time of 20:09.3. Emery’s Adaley Lester finished second at 20:44.6. Carbon then took the next four places to secure the win.
