Raymond Anthony Salzetti, age 91, passed away one week and one day before his 92nd birthday, on August 27, 2020.  His son, Dennis and daughter-in-law Carol were present at his peaceful passing at the Logan Regional Hospital in Logan, Utah.

Raymond was born September 4, 1928, in Sunnyside, Utah, the son of Serafino and Genoveffa Salzetti.  He was the last of nine children. He attended schools in Sunnyside, Dragerton and Price, Utah. He began his working career at the old age of 14 at the asphalt mine located in Whitmore Canyon above Sunnyside, and later worked at the Utah Fuel Mine, which became Kaiser Steel. During his 28 years of employment at Utah Fuel and Kaiser, he enrolled and completed a correspondence course in electricity and began working as an electrician for Kaiser Steel. At the completion of 28 years, he transferred to the new power generation plant located in Huntington, Utah, owned by Utah Power. Here he continued working as an electrician for the next 17 years before he retired completely.

Raymond loved and enjoyed the outdoors. As a loving father and husband, he included his family in all his outdoor activities which, to name a few were, archery and shooting , hunting and fishing, camping and horseback riding, tote goat riding and boating. He was a member of the East Carbon Riding Club, the Archery Club, and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Also, he enjoyed playing his accordions for any occasion. He loved music and began his musical endeavors at the age of eight taking accordion lessons, and as time went by, played in dance bands in the Carbon County area. Later, he would play at the senior citizen centers, nursing homes, restaurants and street corners. He would even pack an accordion with him on vacations, playing anywhere where people would gather to listen.  And I can’t help but mention how much he enjoyed talking of the old times and history of Carbon County. Many residents and non-residents have benefited from his vast knowledge of the area spanning many decades.

He is survived by his son Dennis and daughter in law Carol, Hyrum, UT; daughter, Cindi, Evanston, WY; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Raymond will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his wife Lois; one grandson Chet; his parents Serafino and Genoveffa; all his sisters, Sestina, Ida, and Marjorie; and all his brothers, Fred, Armando, Albert, Guido, and Edward. He is survived by his son Dennis and daughter in law Carol, Hyrum, UT; daughter, Cindi, Evanston, WY; nine grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

We love you dad and grandpa, always, until we meet again.

Special thanks to all the first responders and hospital personal in the Cache Valley area who gave of their time and loving care.
