There will be a Peer Support Fundraiser held on Friday, October 2 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Price City Fire Station at 87 North 200 East. This is a fundraising event to help both Carbon and Emery Counties law enforcement and EMS personnel. A representative from the Southeast Health Department, Amanda McIntosh stopped by Castle Country Radio to talk about the event.

“We are doing an activity at the Price Fire Department where we have three mock jail cells and we will be putting our first responders in the jail cell for a 2-hour block. These jail cells can be sponsored by different businesses within the community starting at $250.00 and then it will be a competition between the different cells of who’s going to raise the most money,” stated McIntosh. Once the person is in the cell, they can in turn reach out to their contacts to raise their money. All the funds raised will benefit the new Peer Support Program for both Carbon and Emery Counties.

A peer support program is developed to provide an alternative for law enforcement/EMS before mounting worry and stress negatively affects them on the job and at home. “With a Peer Support Program, you know is a buddy system, it’s having those trained colleagues that have the same lived experiences as you do to have that compassion and that conversation that me and the local law enforcement agent wouldn’t necessarily be able to relate on,” said McIntosh. Officers selected for a peer support program must be approachable and discreet.

If you are a business that would like to sponsor a cell for the event contact the Southeast Health Department at (435) 637-3671.
