The Dinos opened up tennis competition back on August 10 with a loss to Union. Many miles traveled and many matches later they were in Salt Lake City over last weekend to participate in the 3A State Tournament Champions ships at Liberty Park. All girl’s varsity teams qualified for state and for the first time in recent memory, Carbon won three opening round matches. The Dinos would finish the tourney in eighth place out of 22 schools.

In the 1st singles bracket Lindsey Snow would claim victory over Analee Buck from American Heritage Academy 6-1 and 6-3. She would fall in round two, 1-6 and 1-6 to Katelyn Steele from Morgan High School.

Lizzy Blackburn would capture the win in her first round match-up with Morgan Drew of North Sanpete, 6-3 and 7-5. In round two she would fall to eventual state champion Noelle Kieffer of Waterford Academy 2-6 and 1-6.

And in the final singles spot Nicole Swasey dropped her first round match to Emma Jorgensen of Manti. Swasey would win her first set 7-6, however due to a knee injury she was unable to continue her level of play and would lose the last two sets 4-6 and 2-6.

On the doubles side Alex Cartwright and Kaydance Scovill fell in their match to Siya Pandit and Delaney Huefner of Waterford 6-4 and 7-6.

The doubles team of Ana Maria Olivas and Alyssa Ellis defeated Julie Mayano and Sara Tolbert of Delta 6-7, 6-1 and 6-4. In round two they would lose to Ryann Jensen and Sydney Jensen of Morgan in straight sets 1-6 and 0-6.
