Eastern Utah Community Credit Union (EUCCU) is excited to be hosting its Third Annual Pumpkin Festival on Friday, October 9 at 12:00 pm till 6:00 pm at their Price Branch at 675 East 100 North.
“Yea, it’s the third year, we debated back and forth whether to do it this year with everything going on and we decided to move forward, its an event outside and we’re excited to do it again. Basically, it started out a couple of years ago, we decided hey what’s an event that we really don’t have in Carbon County – Carbon and Emery County that we can invite people to in the Fall? And we thought this would be a good event to give kids the opportunity to come out and pick out a pumpkin and also contribute to a great charity,” said CEO, Bruce Yost. All ages are invited to come out to hunt for the perfect pumpkin for a small fee of $3.00 to purchase or get two pumpkins for $5.00.
Officials will be hosting an opportunity drawing for a Nintendo Switch based on the purchase of a pumpkin. “So you buy a pumpkin you get entered in. You buy 10 pumpkins you get 10 tickets and so we’ll just put them all in there after 6:00 pm, after we close the doors on it, we’ll do a drawing and somebody will win a Nintendo Switch,” stated Yost. The more pumpkins you purchase increases your chance to win the grand prize. There will be other fun activities available to enjoy like games and pictures in the pumpkin patch.
All the funds earned at the event will benefit the United Way of Eastern Utah’s Angel Tree Program. “We’ve been involved for years, and years and years, and we plan to continue to be involved. Fundraising it’s been a lot more difficult; we typically do bake sales and other things throughout the year as much. However, we have some money built up for it but we kind of anticipate there being a greater need in the community with everything going on with unemployment being a little bit higher than normal based on COVID-19,” stated Yost. This is a family-friendly event that is open to the entire public.
