Thomas P. Ladavazo “Tommy”, age 81, passed away on October 11, 2020, Carbon County’s first victim of Covid19.
He was born in Gallup, New Mexico to Abe and Della Montoya Ladavazo.
He was raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Price, Utah. Tommy was well known in the community, especially the Catholic community where he was a devoted member. He was an extraordinary cook and operated a popular restaurant then food truck “Tomasito’s” in Price for several years. He was always assisting with the various community and church events where food was served. His love of cooking fed the tummies and souls of his family, friends, seniors and the homeless. Tommy loved to be out in the community and made friends wherever he went. As his daughter Tanya said he was always available to talk with anyone and gave fully of himself, from an ear to listen and a shoulder to lean on always without expectations of anything in return. Here are Tanya’s words, he loved immensely for all my life, my father was never perfect but was perfect to me. He will have a special place in heaven with his loved ones who went before him. My father was truly the best man I’ve known and is now reaping what he sowed in his life. Until we meet again my sweet father and my best buddy, my heart is forever yours. From his son Tommy, Jr., Dad was a kind hearted loving soul who would do anything for anyone. He was a loving dad, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. His younger grandchildren will only hear about what a good person he was. Tommy was married twice and divorced twice yet he remained friends with his ex-wives, Karen Codding and Marcy Madrid, never failing to call on their birthdays.
Survived by his daughter, Tanya Paugh; son, Tommy Jr. (Amy) Landavazo; sister, JoAnn Legat; brother, Don (Faye) Landavazo; granddaughters, Brittany, Siara, Jordan, Tahpainga and Mariah; grandson, Tommy III; great granddaughters, Rosie, Ruby, Jaelynn, Phoenix and Journey; great great granddaughter, Phoebe; special niece and friend, Jeanie; special friends, Carol Pettiti-Oppocher, Anita Vega-Perea and Ralph Perea; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Lawrence, who died before Tommy was born; special nephew, Leslie L. Davenport, Jr.; nieces, Lauren Landavazo, Lori June Fausett, Della Byrge and Chantelle West; step father, Phil Gonzales.
