Debbie K. Curtis, 66, passed away at her home in Lawrence, Utah on November 29, 2020.
She was born August 9, 1954 in Moab, Utah to Ron and Gloria Turner Zufelt. She married the love of her life and best friend, Ted Curtis, September 10, 1982 in Price, Utah.
Debbie grew up in Moab, Utah and moved out of the area at the age of 17. She loved Moab so much that she always said that was “home” and she was just a “displaced resident of Moab.”
She had two wonderful children: Ronnie Terwilleger and Rebecca Horsley. She had six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She lived her whole life doing things to make each one of them feel important and know that they were loved by her. She taught them all to love Christmas, her favorite holiday. She also taught them to love camping, 4-wheeling, fishing, horseback riding, snow skiing, and gardening. She had an amazing green thumb! She loved to craft and it was even better when she had one of her grandkids beside her.
Debbie spent most of her working years as a beautician and loved making her clients feel beautiful. She taught at Paul Mitchell and later owned her own salon. She made many lifelong friends during that time.
Debbie had a heart of gold and her door was always open to any and every person she met. When you came to visit her, you would be well fed and could never leave with an empty stomach or empty heart. She has many lifelong friends who have become her family.
She later sold her salon in Taylorsville to move to Lawrence with her husband. They wanted to leave the city life to pursue the “country life.” Debbie loved that she could be with her best friend and husband while gardening and farming. She didn’t always love the farming part but was willing because “Ted loves it!”
Debbie is survived by her husband, Ted N. Curtis; brother, Steven Zufelt; sister, Linda Crawford; son, Ronnie (Raelene) Terwilleger; daughter, Rebecca (Barry) Horsley; step-daughter, Chelsie (Trevor) Young; grandchildren, Kaibree (Carlin) Horsley, Anthony Green, Sydney (Colten) Bean, Jesse Terwilleger, Austin Horsley, Daphne Young, Brylie Horsley; and one great-grandchild.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Ron and Gloria Zufelt; nephew, Nathan Sanchez; granddaughter, Jaycee Horsley; and father-in-law, Connie Curtis.
