Senior Preston Condie scored a game-high 31 points as the Carbon Dinos opened the season with a one-sided 96-25 win over Maeser Prep Friday night at home.
Returning six seniors from last year’s squad, the Dinos put on a show from the beginning. Establishing a 20-6 lead at the end of the first quarter, the final three were a formality in the season opener, which doubled as the home opener.
Condie shot an efficient 12-of-14 from the field to pace a Carbon offense that had 11 total players score at least two points. The performance marks a career high for Condie at the varsity level.
Fellow senior Keenan Hatch recorded the game’s lone double-double as he ended with 12 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Chet Anderson also reached double-figures as he shot a perfect 4-4 from the field on his way to 10 points.
Friday’s win sets the stage for what will be a heavy week of travel and play for Carbon.
Wednesday the team will travel for a road tilt with the Delta Rabbits, who currently sit 0-1 following a loss to Parowan. The following day will bring a road trip to Uintah, before wrapping up the week at home Friday against North Sanpete.
