The Carbon Dinos easily improved to 2-0 on the young season with a dominating 78-43 victory over the Delta Rabbits on the road Wednesday night.

Beginning a grueling three-game in three-day stretch, the Dinos wasted little time jumping out to a double-digit advantage. Holding a 24-13 lead at the end of the opening quarter, the lead grew as Carbon outscored Delta in each of the next three periods.

Senior Preston Condie once again led the team in scoring as he finished with 18 points, including two makes from the three-point line. The solid outing from Condie comes following a 31 point performance in last week’s season opening win over Maeser Prep.

Fellow senior Caleb Winfree helped give the offense a boost as he poured in 15 points on an efficient night from the field. Merrick Morgan also ended with 15 as he and Winfree each knocked down three shots from deep.

A total of nine Carbon players scored at least two points as the team converted 31 field goals, while attempting just eight free throws.

Britton Smith led the Rabbits in the setback as he posted a team-best 15 points. Jake Henrie also reached double-figures as he contributed 10.

Carbon will now immediately shift its attention to a road game Thursday night as they travel to Vernal to meet the Uintah Utes. The 4A Utes opened their season on Tuesday night with a 55-36 win over the Union Cougars.

Following Thursday’s road tilt the Dinos will wrap up the three-game stretch with a home contest Friday night against the North Sanpete Hawks. Live coverage of that contest will air on KRPX 95.3 The Peak.
