James Thomas Carroll peacefully caught the wings of an angel and returned home to his Heavenly Father on December 8, 2020.
Jim was born December 25, 1942 to Thomas Burrell Carroll and Helen Melva Keele in Price, Utah. As a child, he spent a lot of time with his Uncle Mel and cousins working at the ranch in Nine Mile. Jim cherished his time at the ranch with his cousins. He loved reminiscing about those memories and always wanted to share them. He loved them all dearly.
He attended and graduated from Carbon High School where he excelled at all sports, but especially football. It is also at Carbon High where he met the love of his life, Sharon, and many dear friends whose friendships he enjoyed throughout his life. Jim married his high school sweetheart on May 12, 1962; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
Jim was a hard worker who loved people. He enjoyed working at Safeway’s and Beaver Creek Coal Company; but his favorite job was working as a barber at Atwood’s Barbershop. As a barber, he spent his days meeting new friends and working hard to solve all the world’s problems with his customers (or as he referred to them) dear friends.
As a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he held various church callings and was happy to serve the Lord and others. Jim was very generous and thoughtful, always making sure that others had everything they needed and that no one went without.
Jim loved the outdoors. Se spent a lot of time fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, and sitting on the veranda; however, he was always the happiest when he was able to spend time with his family, especially his grandkids. He was the best Papa who made sure to support his grandchildren in any activity, even if it meant he had to be dressed head to toe in University of Utah attire.
Survived by his sweetheart, Sharon Carroll; daughters, Tami (Paul) Hoffman & Lisa (Steve) Procarione; brother, DeVere (Sue) Smith; grandchildren, Lindsay (Juan) Echeverria, Stephanie Procarione, Jake (Ashley) Hoffman, Justin (Valerie) Procarione, & Tyler (Gracie) Procarione; brothers-in-law, Mick (Chris) Peretti and Stan Jonnson; seven great-grandchildren, and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas B. Carroll; mother, Helen Melva Carroll; father-in-law, Larry Peretti and mother-in-law, Afton Peretti, sister-in-law, Patsy Jonnson; and many cherished cousins.
The family would like to give special thanks to his kindred soul, Dr. Cook, Dr. Gagon and his staff, Brock Morley and the staff at Symbii Home Health, Mike Terry and the staff at Pro Rehab, and Jake & Paul with Lincare for the excellent care they gave to Papa.
