Early offensive struggles plagued the Carbon Dinos throughout the contest as they suffered their first loss of the season 53-42 Thursday night on the road against the Uintah Utes.

Trailing 7-4 at the end of the first quarter, Carbon was held to just 11 points in the opening half. Despite scoring 31 over the final two quarters, the deficit was too much to overcome as the Dinos slipped to 2-1 on the season.

Chet Anderson led the Dinos with 13 points as he knocked down three shots from the three-point line. Keenan Hatch chipped in with eight and Preston Condie finished with seven.

Uintah’s Josh Speirs posted a game high 17 points as the Utes improved to 2-0 overall. Macort Pickup logged 12 points, while Daniel Wright ended with nine.

Thursday’s loss comes following two explosive offensive performances for the Dinos. Last week in the season opener against Maeser Prep Carbon scored 96 points. The team followed that up with a 78 point total against Delta on Wednesday.

The Dinos will complete a three-game in three-day stretch Friday night as they return home to face the North Sanpete Hawks. With wins over Providence Hall and North Sevier, the Hawks will enter the contest 2-0 overall.

Friday’s game will air live on KRPX 95.3 The Peak. Live coverage will begin at 6:30, followed by tip-off at 7:00 p.m.. The live audio stream will also be available at castlecountryradio.com.
