The Carbon Lady Dinos responded to the first loss of the season with a dominating 59-31 win over the South Summit Wildcats Tuesday night at home.

Using an aggressive defense, the Lady Dinos raced out to a 19-3 lead at the end of the opening quarter. The lead continued to grow as Carbon outscored the Wildcats in both the second and third quarters, making the final period a formality.

Makenna Blanc continued to play lights out for Carbon as she poured in a game-high 23 points to go along with seven boards and three assists. Blanc has now scored double-figures in four of the team’s seven games this season.

Madi Orth delivered a second option for Carbon as she scored 19 points, eclipsing her previous season-high of nine. Orth was also a force defensively as she tallied three steals to go along with six boards.

Carbon did the majority of their damage offensively inside the perimeter as the converted just one three-point shot throughout the evening. As a team they recorded 24 field goals, while holding South Summit to just seven.

Now 6-1 on the season, Carbon will play one last game before the 10 day Christmas Break. Returning to the court on Saturday, the Lady Dinos will welcome in Mountain Crest, who has logged a 4-2 record to this point.

Saturday’s contest is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m.. The sophomore contest will start the day of basketball off at 11:00 a.m., followed by the junior varsity immediately after.
