The Carbon Lady Dinos closed out 2020 in style as they blasted through the Union Cougars 53-22 Tuesday evening in Roosevelt.

Playing for the first time in 10 days Carbon showed little signs of rust as they opened a 28-8 lead by the end of the first half. That lead continued to grow as Carbon outscored the Cougars in the final two quarters to win their third straight and improve to 8-1 on the season.

Madi Orth nearly outscored Union by herself as she posted a game-high 19 points to go along with seven rebounds and two steals. Makenna Blanc continued her steady play with nine points, four rebounds and three steals.

Racing out to eight wins in nine tries, the Lady Dinos have been dominate during the non-region portion of the schedule. Six times they’ve secured a victory by double-digits and they have outscored their opponents by 175 points.

Now hitting the final moratorium, Carbon will pause the season until Tuesday, January 5 when they return to the court to take on the Duchesne Eagles.

Next Thursday will mark the beginning of Region 12 play as Carbon travels to meet the South Sevier Rams in Monroe. The next home game will take place Jan. 14 against the Emery Lady Spartans.
