Early offensive struggles plagued the Carbon Dinos as they suffered a 66-51 loss to the Judge Memorial Bulldogs in a non-region contest Tuesday night at Carbon High School.

Playing for the first time since Dec. 22, the Dinos shot a pedestrian 39-percent from the field. While Carbon showed flashes at times throughout the game, Judge Memorial fired on all cylinders early.

Despite the loss Carbon was led by senior Preston Condie, who poured in a team-high 11 points. Condie just missed out on a double-double as gathered nine rebounds to go along with three assists.

Keenan Hatch finished with 10 points and five rebounds to help push the Dinos. Merrick Morgan also reached double figures as he ended with 10, while Caleb Winfree scored nine.

Carbon entered Tuesday’s contest with the No. 8 ranking according to the first RPI. The loss marks the second straight for the Dinos, dipping their overall record to 5-3.

Dom Burns posted a game best 20 points to life No. 13 Judge to the .500 mark at 4-4. Burns got help from a supporting cast that had three others cross the double-digit plateau.

Jace Holmes provided a second option with 16 points in the game. Both Nico Smith and Aaydan Saucedo scored 14 points a piece and combined for eight makes behind the three point line.

With Tuesday’s contest now in the books the Dinos will prepare to open up Region 12 play on Friday at home against the South Sevier Rams.

Originally ranked No. 10 in the RPI, South Sevier slipped to 11 following Judge Memorial’s win over Carbon. Entering division play four of the six teams in the division hold top 10 rankings, including Carbon who remains No. 8.
