Ian RoeBuck was born on April 26, 1948 in Greenville, South Carolina, the oldest of five children, and passed away at his home in East Carbon UT on January 5, 2021.

Ian graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in teaching, and spent many years working in this field, including on the Navajo Reservation outside of Blanding, UT, and in public and private schools in Utah and Colorado.  He served in the US Army in Vietnam. He earned a Master’s of Divinity from Harvest Christian College, Dothan. AL.

He was a man of many talents and interests. He wrote poetry, and received an award from the Utah Poetry Society in 2004. He made musical instruments and enjoyed woodworking. Towards the end of his life, he wrote music and enjoyed playing his guitars, mandolin, and banjo, among his other instruments. Ian’s deepest passion was a never-ending quest for the truth. He was a licensed Presbyterian minister and pastored a small church in Landrum, SC for several years. He became a member of the Orthodox Bahai Faith, which he left in 2020. On October 27, 2020 he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

He leaves behind his devoted wife Julia and two sons, William Andrew of East Carbon and Immanuel Joshua of Salt Lake City, as well as his sister Annie Goldwyn of Seattle WA, and brother Wade Peterson of Houston TX.

A special thanks to CNS, Dr. Potter, Michael, Larine, Raeann, and all the other staff that were a tremendous help to Ian and our family. Ian was a hardworking person with the highest standards of excellence for himself and those around him. He will always be a part of our lives, and we will forever miss him.

Graveside service Friday, January 8, 2021, 2:00 p.m., at the East Carbon City Cemetery.
