
Janzie Jensen dropped a game high 17 points to lead the Carbon Lady Dinos to a 55-35 win over the San Juan Broncos Tuesday night in Blanding.
Looking to rebound from a Region 12 loss on Thursday, the Lady Dinos looked crisp on both ends of the ball right out of the gate. Outscoring the Broncos 22-6 in the opening eight minutes, Carbon continued to roll throughout the game in the lopsided win.
Senior Makenna Blanc helped push the offensive success as she finished with 14 points to compliment Jensen. Blanc also corralled nine rebounds and handed out two assists.
Freshman Madi Orth continued to impress at the varsity level as she grabbed a game high 14 rebounds to go along with nine points. Sydney Orth also contributed seven points and six boards in the win.
Entering Tuesday’s contest Carbon held the No. 4 ranking after starting the Region 12 season 1-1. The victory moves them up one spot in the ever changing RPI.
Now 11-2 overall on the season, the Lady Dinos will look for their second straight win as they host the Grand Red Devils on Thursday night. Grand is currently 2-7 overall and still looking for their first region win of the season.
Thursday’s home varsity contest is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.. The Lady Dinos will then take the rest of the week off, before returning next Tuesday to meet the Richfield Wildcats at home.
