
The Pinnacle Panthers celebrated senior night on Friday, honors some ladies that have played for the program in some cases since middle school. They faced an opponent they had just held to 14 points on Wednesday in the American Prep Eagles. And while they came away with the win on Friday night the Eagles made this one very interesting with Pinnacle taking the 39-32 win.
American Prep who sits at 2-13 on the season and No. 22 in the 2A state RPI ranking, struggled to score on Wednesday, but Friday night was a different story as the two teams battled back and forth in the second half, outscoring the Panthers 15-10 in the final quarter. The Panthers held steady through the final minutes maintaining the lead and capturing the win.
For the Eagles Jenna Coleman led the team with 12 points, Aryanna Paul added seven. Nicole Nguyen and Cindy Cornell each added six.
Pinnacle senior Jacee Atwood led all scorers with 15, junior Kemery Stuckenschneider dropped six. Senior Lizvet Pinal and junior Janae Hunter added five points each in the victory.
Pinnacle will not take to the court again until Monday, when they will face Grand County the No. 18 team in the 3A rankings.
