There is a new app coming soon that folks can download that will talk about the history of various places within our county. Price City Council Member, Layne Miller and Office of Tourism, Tina Henrie came into Castle Country Radio to talk about the new app.
“This started several months ago when Carbon County decided to do this for Nine Mile Canyon. So they contacted me to get some of the details, write the stories, and do all that kind of stuff. As I did that, I thought this would be great for Price, so we came up with the idea of doing this for Price. Then I thought, well if Price is involved, let’s involve Helper. People can come into the area, really they could spend a couple days here just following the app and listening to the stories,” stated Miller. This app would be perfect for our area as we have so much history within our county.
Henrie attended a conference where she learned about this free mobile app that gives self-guided audio tours and was excited to bring the idea home. “So basically, they are a mobile app with a mission, that’s what they say about themselves. What they do is develop highly accessible, oriented information about areas, it will tell kind of like a podcast story, and it’s followed up by imagery also. So it’s just a really great way for travel industries, local communities, to highlight their area,” explained Henrie. The great thing about this app is that the traveler does not have to have cell phone service or wi-fi.
“What I love too, is you can also access the tour remotely as you’re planning your trip. So you don’t have to be in Price to view the tour, you can actually download the app and view the Price tour as you’re planning your trip to the Carbon Corridor,” stated Henrie. TravelStorys has produced 4,000 mini-podcasts in more than 130 audio tours in 36 states and 3 countries. To learn more about the TravelStorys App visit their website to see what they are all about.
The duo was unable to announce of date of when local tours would be made available on the app but they both said they would keep folks in the know as it gets closer to launching those tours.
