On Saturday Castleview Hospital sponsored their Annual Community Ice Skating Day at the Fairgrounds Ice Rink. For the third year in a row they invited people of Carbon and Emery counties to come out and hit the ice with their families and have some fun.

Everyone was bundled up and the lines started forming at 11:00. Over 250 people took advantage of this entirely free event. All that turned out were screened and protocols were in place to make sure everyone was safe as they handed out ice skates and families hit the ice. If they got cold, there were heaters to gather around and the hospital provided hot chocolate as well as hot dogs and chili.

“Castleview Hospital looks at this event as a great way to give back to the community and they also try to keep it as close to February as possible because it is Heart Health Awareness Month”, hospital spokeswoman Amanda Paiz said.

Keep an eye out for information about the upcoming Heart Health luncheon coming up sometime this month. The hospital hopes to be able to offer this in person and virtually. Past Heart Health luncheons have covered Early Heart Attck Care (EHAC) and stroke prevention. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States.

Caslteview Hospital’s mission is, “Making communities healthier”, and with this event and the upcoming luncheon, it is just one more way that they will continue that. For information on the hospital events you can check their Facebook page or go to castleviewhospital.net
