Tatum Tanner scored a season best 20 points as the Emery Lady Spartans blasted through the San Juan Broncos 82-47 Tuesday afternoon in Blanding.

Meeting for the second time this season, Tuesday’s matchup ended in similar fashion to the first as Emery eased its way to a victory.

San Juan had no answer for Emery’s post presence as Tanner shot 8-of-12 from the field and also grabbed five rebounds. She added to her dominant performance by recording three blocks on the defensive end of the floor.

Baylee Jacobson also posted a season best as she helped pace the Emery offense with 19 points. Jacobson connected on three makes from beyond the arc and shot 3-of-5 from inside 19-feet.

Tuesday’s road win moves the Lady Spartans to 6-1 in Region 12 play, allowing Emery to keep pace with the South Sevier Rams for first place in the division.

The loss for San Juan dips them to 4-11 overall and 1-5 in league play, placing them fifth out of the field of six teams.

With only three games remaining on the regular season slate, the Lady Spartan will look ahead to Friday’s monumental matchup with the Carbon Lady Dinos at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.

Despite holding a one-game lead on Carbon in the division standings, Emery ranks behind the Lady Dinos as the two teams will enter Thursday’s game No. 2 and No. 3 in the RPI. Emery won the first meeting 60-42 back on Jan. 14.

Live coverage of Friday’s game will air on KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM, as well as KRPX 95.3 The Peak at 6:30 p.m.. Tip-off will follow shortly after at 7:00.
