Joseph Thomas Mason, 90, passed away February 4, 2021 at the Heirloom Inn in Price.

He was born October 3, 1930 in Helper, Utah to George B. and Hildred Burgess Mason.  On May 18, 1951, he married Esta Lee Berensen in Elko, Nevada.  Just days after their marriage Joe was called to duty during the Korean War where he was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne from May 22, 1951-May 1, 1953.  He was a graduate of Carbon High School, Carbon College and the University of Colorado.  Joe was a proud, distinguished and an active member of the Kiwanis Club, Price Elk’s Lodge, Carbon Country Club and the American Legion Post #3 where he enjoyed participating in many activities that helped support the community. Joe made his career in the banking industry where he made many lifelong friends.

His biggest accomplishment was family and he dearly loved his beloved wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  He enjoyed watching all their activities and was extremely proud of them.  Joe made sure his grandchildren and great-grandchildren had all the love he had to offer.  He took great pride in his home, yard and cars.  Joe kept everything immaculate, or as we would say “Joe Clean.”

He recently had the pleasure of joining other veterans on the Utah Honor Flight.  This was a very satisfying experience which he was able to share with his son.  All of the war memorials were memorable, however, The Ghostly Nineteen Korean War Memorial touched him the most.  Joe was very patriotic and always willing to help those in need.  Joe was a friend to all and his friendship and wisdom will be cherished forever.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at the Heirloom Inn, CNS Hospice, especially Willow and Autumn for the amazing care of Esta Lee and Joe.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Esta Lee Mason, Price; son, Keven (Earlene) Mason, Huntington; daughter, Lori (Tad) Fausett, Price; son-in-law, Arne Rajala, Grand Junction, CO; grandchildren, Heidi (Dustin) Carlson, Brandon (Kelli) Fausett, Jessica (Nick) Teny, Ashton Fausett and Mallorie (TyLee) Allred; great-grandchildren, Kamrie (Justin), Braxton, Danielle, Raquelle, Madilyn, Hadlee, Romolo, Dax, Ryker, Mason, Ella and Vance; and many loving nieces and nephews.
