The COVID-19 vaccine is about to become a little easier to receive. The pharmacies at Wal-Mart and Smith’s in Price, as well as City Market in Moab, will begin administering the vaccine to eligible parties by the end of this week, in accordance with state protocols.

At this time, the pharmacies involved are asking that those 70 and over  go online at their preferred pharmacy and register for an appointment. The pharmacies will only be given a set amount of the vaccines and  they can not accept walk-ins. The vaccine is being offered free of charge.

According to the Southeastern Utah Health Department,  1,284 people within the district have been fully vaccinated with 3,908 first doses administered.  In the state of Utah that brings our number of doses to 442,476 with 117,305 residents fully vaccinated.

Starting in March, the age limit of eligibility will drop to 65-69 and those 18 or older with certain medical conditions as outlined by the State Department of Health. The timeline set forth has also listed that all Utahns will be eligible for vaccination between April and July.

You can go to Wal-Mart and Smith’s websites to register for the vaccine by giving  your information, and then you will be able to schedule your appointment.  You will need to do this online,  but you can call the pharmacies if you have any questions.

The Southeastern Utah Health Department is also administering the vaccine, however all of their appointments are full at this time. If you are unable to go online to make an appointment,  you can still call the Health Department at (435) 637-3671 in Carbon County, (435) 381-2252 in Emery County or (435) 259-5602 in Moab to get on a waiting list.

You can also register for email updates at their website: seuhealth.com.
