The Pinnacle Panther’s ladies basketball team heads in to the final week of the regular season starting Friday night at Rockwell. The Panthers have struggled recently with losses against the Grand County Red Devils on Monday and the Merit College Preparatory Academy Knights on Wednesday night.

Getting back to the court on Monday night, was the first contest they played in since the cancellation of the game with Green River that was supposed to take place on February 2.

Grand handled Pinnacle 54-26, in the loss Jacee Atwood led the Panthers with 10 points, while Samantha Kessler added seven and Destinee Andrews had three. The Red Devils held Pinnacle scoreless in the first quarter putting them in an 18 point hole from the beginning that the Panthers couldn’t climb out of.

Merit Preparatory, located in Springville plays in the 2A ranks. In this game the Panthers failed to gain momentum and fell 51-28. The two teams faced each other just last December at the Panther Winter Classic, where the Knights took a 29-23 win.

Up next the Panthers will tangle with the Rockwell Marshals from Eagle Mountain. The Marshals are also from 2A and currently sit at 16-3. Tip-off for tonight’s game is set for 7pm. These two teams met up in December as well with Rockwell taking the win 57-23.

After Friday’s game, Pinnacle will only have three games remaining in the regular season. First up, they will be on the road against the Wendover Wildcats on Monday, February 15. Back on January 28 the Panthers fell to the Wildcats 73-17 in Price. They will then welcome the Tintic Miners to town on Wednesday night, the last time these teams faced each other was in 2018 and the Miners got the best of the Panthers 44-26.

Pinnacle will then wrap up the regular season on Friday, February 19 on the road in Green River. This will be the only time these two teams face each other before the post-season starts.

Tip-off is set for 5:30 pm in Green River.
