The final Utah High School Activities Association’s RPI rankings for the 3A boy’s basketball were released Saturday morning, setting the stage for the State Championship Tournament, which will begin Tuesday night.

To no surprise the Grantsville Cowboys, who finished the regular season 15-2, finished as the No. 1 ranked team by a hefty margin. The Juab Wasps came in at No. 2 with a final record of 18-3, barely edging out region foe Manti who finished 16-5. Grand and San Juan round out the top five.

Each of the 19 teams in the classification now have their ranking for the season-ending tournament. Seeds 1-through-13 receive a first round bye and advance to the second round on Friday.

The field of 19 will be cut to 16 as seeds 14-through-19 will play in the opening round beginning Tuesday, at the higher seed’s home site:

* No. 14 American Leadership Academy VS No. 19 Maeser Prep- Winner plays No. 3 Manti.
* No. 15 South Summit VS No. 18 Providence Hall- Winner plays No. 2 Juab.
* No. 16 Emery VS No. 17 Delta- Winner plays No. 1 Grantsville. (On KOAL 107.3 FM and 750 AM)

The second round of the 3A State Tournament will begin Friday afternoon at the home sites of the higher seeds. The field of 16 will be cut in half to eight:

* No. 4 Grand VS No. 13 Union- 7:00 p.m.
* No. 5 San Juan VS No. 12 Summit Academy- 7:00 p.m.
* No. 1 Grantsville VS Emery/Delta- 7:00 p.m.
* No. 8 Carbon VS No. 9 North Sanpete- 7:00 p.m. (On KRPX 95.3 The Peak)
* No. 2 Juab VS South Summit/Providence Hall- 7:00 p.m.
* No. 7 Richfield VS No. 10 Morgan- 7:00 p.m.
* No. 3 Manti VS ALA/Maeser Prep- 7:00 p.m.
* No. 6 Judge Memorial VS No. 11 South Sevier- 7:00 p.m.

The eight remaining teams will then travel to the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield, where the State Champion will be determined over the course of three days between Feb. 25 and Feb. 27. At this stage in the tournament each team is guaranteed at least two games, with a consolation bracket being introduced.
