The Emery swim teams took part in the the 3A State Championship over the weekend at the South Davis Recreational Center in Bountiful. With strong performances behind Haley Guymon, the girls team finished the season in third place facing over 19 total schools. The boys team finished in the sixth spot among 21 teams.
The ladies had a combined 211 points finishing behind first place Carbon who had 258 and Judge Memorial who registered 228 points. Millard and Rowland Hall finished out the top five.
Emery had two first place finishes and both of them came from Hayley Guymon. Guymon finished the 200 yard free style with a time of 2:01.00, her other first place finish came in the 100 yard free style clocking in at 55.09, which was 2.29 faster than her time at region competition back on January 28.
The Spartans would go on to claim a second place finish in the 400 yard free relay at 4:00.67 , knocking 0.90 off their best time. In the 200 yard free relay they would also put forth a season best time of 1:50.9 shaving 0.42 off of their fastest time.
For the boys, they would finish in sixth place among 21 schools with 135 points. Judge Memorial would claim their first state title in 16 years with 314 points. Union, Richfield, Grand and Carbon would round out the top five.
Dax Minchey would place third in the 100 yard free style with a time of 52.21. Minchey and team mates Elias Morris, Keagley Terry and Kyler Minchey also took home the third place spot in the 200 yard free relay with a time of 1:38.40. The 200 yard medley relay team of Dax Minchey, Terry Morris and Jacob Fauver claim a fifth place finish with a time of 1:52.63.
