The International Days committee met last week to discuss the annual celebration put on by Price City. Of course last years event had to be shelved due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, but this year’s event will go on with some contingencies in place. The event is scheduled to begin on Thursday July 29, 2021 with opening ceremonies and headliner Shuffle, other events such as the Grand Parade, Kid’s Parade and golf tournament are being planned as well.

In an attempt to switch things up this year as well as boost the Price City Downtown District, Councilman Layne Miller suggested that most festivities be moved to Main Street, including the vendors and also some of the entertainment. Some concerns that were raised were with power and water for the vendors as well as parking and if the number of vendors would have to be limited by moving them to Main Street. Councilman Boyd Marsing, the committee char this year said that he would discuss moving some or all of the activities to Main Street with the Mayor and City Council.

Other activities that were discussed were the Kid’s Parade, which is set to follow the same route as in years past. Tamara Gray with The Desert Wave Pool, discussed the need to wait and see what the restrictions are closer to the dates of International Days, but there is a possibility to extend the free swim and do it all three days to limit numbers if necessary. The Boys and Girls Club also stated that they would have to see where we are with COVID to determine if they could participate in the free swim event as well.

Fan favorite Shuffle has been booked for Opening Ceremonies this year and it was also suggested this year the ceremonies be held at the fairgrounds as kind of a “Drive- In” concert with car hops delivering food. The concert audio could be streamed through your vehicles radio. It was also suggested that the Boys and Girls Club or Price Youth Council take over the car hop duties. Fireworks will follow at dusk and will be set off from Woodhill as in years past.

There are many suggestions being made to make this event fun and safe for those that attend as well as those who will take participate in the celebration. Plans will be solidified in the coming weeks.

The next meet will take place on March 9.
